1. Weigh out 0.4 grams of sodium hydroxide pellets or flakes using a balance. 2. Add the NaOH to a clean, dry 1000 ml volumetric flask. 3. Add about 800 ml of distilled water to the flask. 4. Stir the solution with a stirring rod until the NaOH has completely dissolved. 5. Add more distilled water until the solution reaches the 1000 ml mark on the flask. Make sure to fill it up to the calibration mark.
